Sarah and Lady Ignis came home after their little adventure in town. “Boys.” Lady Ignis growled. “Stupid arrogant boys! Should have never taken you along!”

“But he was nice!” Sarah replied. “He chased that other guy away!”

Lady Ignis let go of her arm. “That was just a trick Sarah!” She told her. “That other guy made you feel uncomfortable so that that Zash guy could ‘rescue’ you!” Sarah still didn’t believe it. “Trust me, I know boys. All self-centered, arrogant, absolute…”

“Hey, where have you been?” Lady Gaia entered the room. “Sarah, why are you all dressed up?”

“I… I… I…” Sarah couldn’t come up with anything. “I just felt like it.”

Lady Gaia looked doubting, would she believe it? But Lady Ignis interrupted her. “Oh my, look at the time! Bed time!”

“Oh yes!” Sarah quickly added. “I’m really tired. Good night mom!” And off they went.

A shadow appeared behind Lady Gaia, who looked thinking. “What do you think?” Lady Kim asked.

“I don’t know…” Lady Gaia answered honestly. “Sarah never lies… yet… why do I… doubt?”

Sarah quickly closed the door in her room. She sighed heavily. “Man, that just went right!” She sighed.

Lady Ignis joined her. “NEVER again, you hear me?” She said determent. “Your wish is now granted, and now you know why we never allowed you to go!”

“Thank you, Aunt Ignis.” Sarah thanked her aunt before she left.

However, after this occasion, Sarah wanted to go once again! Not just that… she wanted to see him again. All she could think of was… Zash.

“Mother?” Sarah asked the next day. “How do you know that you are in love?”

Lady Gaia looked curious at her. “Why do you want to know?” She asked. “It’s a difficult question.”

“Just because.” Sarah answered.

Lady Gaia was silent for a moment. “Love is a complicated thing Sarah.” She replied honestly. “There are no easy answers. Love is different for each and everyone.”

“So you would never know…?” Sarah asked.

Lady Gaia shook her head. “Oh, don’t worry, you will know it when you see it.” But then Lady Gaia realized something. ‘If she ever wants to love someone… she should meet someone…’. Lady Gaia stepped up. “Sarah, I need to talk to your Aunt Kim for a moment.”

Lady Gaia left the room. She knew she had to convince Lady Kim one way or another to let Sarah meet people! She didn’t deserve a life without love!

Sarah knocked on Lady Ignis’s door. “One moment!” The answer was, and then the door got opened a small bit. “Hiya Sparks.”

“You were planning to skip again, right?” Sarah asked with a grin on her face.

Lady Ignis pulled her in. “Don’t you dare to tell ANYONE!” She commanded.

Sarah felt evilly. “How can I tell anyone... if I went along…”

Lady Ignis was shocked. Then she growled. “Spawn of Satan!” She growled.

In the club Sarah looked around if she spotted Zash. Would he be here tonight again? Ember had spotted a guy for her own. Sure, she claimed she hated boys, but now she was sitting on a couch with a guy!

“Is it safe for me to come near?”

Sarah turned around. “Zash!” Happily she looked at him. But what was that weird feeling in her stomach?

“Is your sister near?” He asked. “I didn’t want to hit on you.”

“Hit on me?” Sarah asked confused. “Are you armed?”

Zash laughed. “No, I meant that I didn’t want to trick you or so. I was just being nice, that’s all. Darrel is not one of my friends or so.”

“That’s what I thought too.” Sarah blushed. “But my Aunt disagrees.”

“Aunt?” Zash wondered. ”Does your whole family know about this?!”

“I hope not…” Sarah whispered.

On the couch in a corner, Ember laughed about stupid jokes the guy was making. ‘God, he’s a dweep!’ She thought, ‘But at least he looks okay.’

Then she turned around and spotted someone. A Lady… with green hair. “Uh oh.” Ember jumped up. “Sorry boy…whatever your name may be, but I gotta go!” And she ran off to find Sarah.

Sarah in the mean while, had a lot of fun with Zash. “So, when I told them about how impossible it was, they all gazed at me with faces like: ‘He dares to disagree?!’.”

Sarah laughed. “You actually said that?!” But then someone pulled on her arm.

“Say good bye Sarah, it’s time for us to go.” Ember pulled.

“Huh, why?” Sarah asked. “I don’t want to go!”

“Trust me, we really got to g-“ But when she turned around, Lady Kim stood before them. “Uh…oh…”

“Your mother?” Zash asked.

“Aunt…” Sarah replied. Then Lady Gaia spotted them as well. “Oh… hi mom…” She mumbled.

“What on Serenay Moon are you doing here?!” Lady Kim bellowed. Even the music stopped. Then she grabbed Ember. “How could you drag her into a place like this!”

“It was my idea!” Sarah interrupted. “I demanded she took me along!”

Lady Gaia grabbed Sarah’s arm. “Stop defending her. You are going home right now!” She turned away and both girls got escorted outside. “And then to think I tried to convince Kim to let you go out!”

Sarah tried to look back to the confused crowd, and saw that Zash was the most confused of them all. Carefully she waved at him, and as a reflex, he waved back.

At home, Lady Kim and Lady Ignis were into a fight. “How could you?” Lady Kim yelled. “You know the rules, why do you always disobey them?!”

“It’s not right for her to stay cooped up inside!” Lady Ignis defended herself.

“If they find out about us we’ll disturb the balance of right and evil!” Lady Kim replied.

Lady Ignis felt angry. “Don’t talk about duties! We’re talking about a teenager now!”

“Reminds me off, when will YOU grow up?!”

“The fact we can’t love someone, doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be allowed to love someone either!”

Lady Kim was silent. She remembered what Lady Gaia had said to her. If Sarah would stay here, she would never learn to love…

“If Sarah goes to the outside world…” Lady Kim said with a soft voice. “People will wonder where she lives. They will wonder who her parents are… Letting her out is too dangerous for us…”

Sarah sat in her room, tears streaming from her face. Now there was no chance that she would ever be allowed out any more! The door slowly opened. “Sarah?”

When she looked back, she saw the 5 Guardians. “I’m so sorry…” She said with a sad voice. “I’m so, so sorry.”

Lady Gaia sat down next to her. “We have been thinking…” She said. “And it would not be fair to keep you here forever…” The next thing she had to say was the hardest thing ever. “You may go to the outside world… but then you can never return again…”

Sarah’s face changed. “Never seeing you again?” She asked with a trembling voice.

Lady Gaia gave her a necklace with a gem. “If you ever need us… you can call for us.” She said. “But only in emergencies… but you can’t ever come back here again.”

“You want me to leave everything behind?” Sarah asked.

Lady Kim kneeled before her. “It’s your decision Sarah. Whatever you’ll choose, we’ll support it…”

Sarah looked at the gem and her family. How could she choose between them?

A few days later, Lady Gaia looked to the outside world. On a cliff, she looked at the young girl that found her way to town. “I knew this was going to happen.” She whispered, while Lady Kim joined her. “I knew that one day I would loose her…”

Lady Kim lay a hand on her shoulder. “That’s why I never wanted Sarah in the first place.”

Lady Gaia looked with tears in her eyes. “I know that kids have to leave one day, have to live their own life… But why does it break my heart?” She threw herself into Lady Kim’s arms. “Why can’t I let her go? Why does it hurt so much? I want my little Sarah back!”

Lady Kim tried to comfort her. “Hush, hush little one.” She said. “This was her decision…” And a tear escaped from her eye.

In Sarah’s room, Lady Ignis sat on her bed. All the things Sarah had left behind… All her gifts, all her books. Everything.

“Why are you here?” Lady Luna asked.

“Leave me alone!” Lady Ignis snapped.

Lady Luna ignored her, and behind her Lady Aqua appeared as well. “It’s okay.” Lady Aqua said. “Just let it all out.”

“I said, leave me alone!” Lady Ignis had tears in her eyes. “If I hadn’t taken her along, this would have never happened!”

“It’s not your fault.” Lady Luna took her sister in her arms. “It was time for her… to go.”

“But it is!” Lady Ignis cried. “It IS my fault! I don’t want her to go! It’s all my fault!” And together with her 2 sisters, they cried as well.

Many years later, on earth, a professor gave a very boring lecture in High School. “And after she married, Sarah and Zash Crowmen specialized themselves in astronomy. They made very long journeys, but they never seem to run out of power.”

A boy raised a finger. “Where did they come from?”

The professor continued. “Good question Nicolas.” He said. “Zash Crowmen was born on Serenay Moon. As for Sarah Crowmen… we don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” A yellow haired boy asked. “That’s impossible!”

“But it’s true Zach.” The professor said. “She never told anyone who her parents were, or where she used to live before she met Zash. I think the secret got buried with her.” He showed a photo of an older Sarah and Zash. “Just make sure you remember that they meant a lot to space science. Sarah’s seemed to know every language in space and Zash’s intelligence about astronomy helped them in many occasions when they accidentally got lost.”

“Not so smart eh?” Nicolas grinned.

“May be Nicolas.” The professor said.

“Did they have any children?” A pretty girl next to Zach asked.

The professor looked in his notes to be sure. “Indeed Kimi, they had 4 kids. And one more thing. Their kids claimed something very strange happened when their mother died of old age. She seemed to go insane; talking into thin air. But just before she died, they claimed to hear voices.”

“Spooky!” Kimi replied. “What did they say?”

“You had a good life child.” The professor said. “And we are all very proud of you…”
