Black Thunder is officially the leader of the Black Soldiers... or at least, he was. In a way, way past, this mighty warrior was one of the soldiers of Lord Inferno. When he died, Lord Inferno 'saved' his soul for later use. When he managed to kidnap Mika's friends (as a plot to weaken her heart), he couldn't possess him yet, missing a fourth member for the team (this eventually became Starleen). When the time was right, Lord Inferno put the soul of Black Thunder into Rocket Stevo. It's unknown what happened to the childeren between the time they were kidnapped and the time they woke up.
When Black Thunder was being revived, it turned out Rocket Stevo's heart was too strong for him. In order to let the transfer be succesful, Rocket Stevo's heart was cursed. If the boy would ever find love, he would be repaid with incredible pain. This turned his heart into a heart of ice; perfect for Black Thunder.
Still, Black Thunder was losing his key position due to Rocket Stevo's everlasting influence. Eventually it was Rocket Stevo who decided Black Thunder would fall in love with Kitt, weakening the spell. Even though there was little he could do, Rocket Stevo kept on fighting with all his might!
As a character, Black Thunder does not differ much from the Rocket Stevo we know now: being pushed around by three girls. He was even given a haircut and dye so he would look even more like Zach (which totally worked; how come Rocket Stevo looks so much like Zach...?)! He used to be viscious and cruel, but there was a little voice inside him that always held him back...
