“Come on!” Mika pushed Moka from one side to another. “Wake up Moka! You promised!”

Moka moaned while he got shaken in his bed. Zach pulled Mika away from Moka. “Mika, don’t do that!”

“But Moka promised me to take me to the museum today!” Mika pouted like a small child. “He is just sleepy.”

Derak felt Moka’s forehead. “Nuh-uh.” He said. “I think Moka is sick.”

Mika laughed. “That’s impossible!” She giggled. “Moka never gets sick!”

“There is a first time for everything.” Kitt walked inside the room. Kitt looked at the sweat pouring away from Moka. “Moka, can you hear me?”

“I’m here, I’m here…” Moka softly whispered and opened his eyes. He saw his alarm clock. He pushed away the sheets and tried to stand up.

“Hey, where do you think you are going?” Derak asked and pushed Moka back.

Moka tried to stand up again, but was too weak. “I promised Mika to go to the museum.” He said with a scratchy voice.

“Not in this condition you won’t.” Zach replied. “I don’t know how much your temperature is, but you can bake an egg on your forehead!”

Mika then finally realised it. “He really is sick, is he?” Derak nodded. “Is he going to be fine?”

“Nothing that a long rest won’t help.” Kitt smiled. “I think he just got the flue. Don’t worry.”

“But… the museum…” Moka sighed and tried to say. “I promised.”

Kitt tucked Moka in. “Don’t worry, I’ll take her.” All the boys looked at her with eyes wide open. “How hard can it be?”

Moka grabbed Derak’s hand. “Stop her, stop her!”

“Maybe he needs some medicine.” Mika suggested. “Do we have any aspirins?”

“That’s a great idea Mika!” Zach walked out. “I’ll see if we have any left.”

Mika touched Moka’s sweaty face. “Don’t worry.” She smiled. “I’ll try to stay out of trouble. You just get better.”

“Derak and Zach will take care of you.” Kitt smiled. “Don’t worry about Mika, I’ll look after her.”

Moka softly nodded and Zach came back with a pot of aspirins. “Let’s see…” He read the label. “1 per day if you are less than a year old, 2 is you are between the age of 1 and 5 years and…”

Mika put on a coat. “Are you sure you’ll make it?” She asked Derak and Zach (though Zach was still trying to read the label).

Derak nodded. “Sure, I’ll make him some chicken soup.” Derak smiled. “How hard can that be? Just be careful, there is a strong wind blowing.”

Kitt opened the door. “We’ll be fine.” She said. “If we can survive Umbra 6, Serenay Moon will be a piece of cake!”

Derak waved from the door and Kitt and Mika went on their way. Mika looked think fully and almost tripped over a banana peel.

“Whoa, look out!” Kitt caught Mika in the nick of time. “Why are you so off today?”

“I’m worried about Moka.” Mika said. “Maybe we shouldn’t have left him with Zach and Derak. I should be the one who is taking care of him.”

Kitt shook her head. “No, if you stayed home he would be all worried about you getting sick and wouldn’t be able to rest. Since nothing can happen in the museum, he won’t be worried about you and can get some sleep.”

“But…” Mika tried.

Kitt stopped. “Look, Moka felt really bad about being sick while he promised he would take you to the museum today. It’s the last day of the exposition and you won’t get another chance. This way he won’t break his promise.”

Mika nodded. “He won’t be worried about me, but that won’t keep me from being worried about him!”

In the mean while, at home, Zach and Derak held the jar of aspirins. “When I say 5, pull! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!” Zach and Derak pulled on both sides, but the jar was simply… stuck.

Mika and Kitt reached the museum. Kitt read the banner above it: ‘100th annual gem exposition’ with underneath it: ‘only once every hundred years!’.

“Let’s go in!” Mika wanted to run in, but Kitt pulled her back.

“How about getting some tickets first?”

Kitt and Mika stood in the row and waited for their turn. Mika looked bored around and played with her hair.

Finally, after a while, Kitt was able to buy some tickets. “Thank you.” She greeted and walked away. “Well Mika, we finally can get in… Mika?” Kitt looked around and saw Mika was gone. “Mika?” Kitt spotted Mika on the other side of the road, climbing in a tree. Underneath it was a small crying boy. Kitt saw a branch under Mika’s foot being bent and heard something cracking. “Mika!!” Kitt yelled and ran at her.

The branch broke and Mika fell down. With a soft thud she landed. “Where is my balloon?” The little boy cried.

“Mika, get off me!!” Kitt cursed.

“So that’s why I fell so soft.” Mika giggled.

“Get off me!” Kitt growled.

“You promised you would get it!” The boy cried even louder.

Mika jumped up and Kitt tried to ask what was going on but the boy cried too loud. Mika pointed at the tree and Kitt spotted a large red balloon. She sighed and climbed in the tree. Easily, she got the balloon and when she climbed down, she handed it over to Mika.

Mika gave the balloon to the boy and the boy stopped crying. “Thank you miss!” He smiled and hugged her. “You are so great!” And he ran away.

“Isn’t that sweet?” Mika asked Kitt who came down. “He hugged me for getting his balloon!”

“I got his balloon!” Kitt yelled angry. “He should be thanking me!”

“Really?” Mika asked. ”Oo! Let’s go into the museum!”

Mika ran away and left Kitt behind. “Jeez, where does she get all that energy?” She cursed and ran after her, trying to keep Mika from being hit by a car.

At the cottage, Zach took a golf club. “You keep it at its place.” He said to Derak and aimed. The golf club swung down and… hit Derak in the head.

Inside the museum, Mika looked at all the shiny gems. “Oo, I want one like that!” Mika squealed while pointing at a pink gem on a golden necklace. “Moka, would you…?” She then realised Moka was not with her.

Kitt smiled. “I don’t think you can buy a necklace like this. And I don’t think Moka has the money for it.”

“You?” Mika asked. “Do you have the money? I heard your father is really rich.”

Kitt sighed. “Even my dad doesn’t have that kind of money. Were does get Moka his money anyway?”

Mika answered. “It’s from his parent’s inheritance.” She said with a soft voice. “They made sure Moka wouldn’t need anything if something happened to them.”

“Oh.” Kitt only replied. “I didn’t know that.” Kitt felt really bad for asking, but Mika ran away, cheerful as ever.

Kitt followed Mika into the next room, where it was completely silent. There was no one there and the room was quite dark too. “Mika?” Kitt asked. “I don’t think we should be here.”

Mika turned around. “Only because the lights are dimmed?” Mika asked. “I didn’t see a sign, did you?”

Kitt looked around, Mika was right. Suddenly she said: “Did you hear that?”

“Hear what?” Mika asked.

She listened carefully. Then she heard it too. “Help us….” Someone said softly.

“Please help us….” Another soft voice added.

Kitt and Mika looked around, but saw nothing.

Moka had come out of bed because he had heard a lot of noise. When he entered the room, he saw Zach trying to open the jar with a chainsaw. A lot of sparks came from it, but the jar stayed undamaged. “Whoa, tough glass!” Derak said while he looked again.

Moka sighed and walked at the jar. He took it and unscrewed the lit. Derak and Zach looked stunned at Moka while he took some pills from the jar and closed it again.

“We had to turn the lit instead of pulling it?!” Derak asked astounded while Moka went back to bed.

“Please, help us!” The voice was now a bit stronger.

“Are they ghosts?!” Mika clutched to Kitt.

Kitt pushed Mika loose. “Where are you?” Kitt looked around and still didn’t see anyone beside her and Mika.

“Here, in the bottle.” The double voice was sad and weak. “Please let us go!”

Mika walked at a crystal bottle. “It’s pretty!” She said but then spotted 2 pairs of blue eyes. Scared, she jumped away.

“Help us…” The eyes said.

Kitt observed the bottle. “Are you genies?” She asked puzzled. She remembered that story about a dangerous genie sealed in a bottle that pled for his release on a sad and tricky way. But these eyes seemed to belong to two women and well… there were two of them there!

“We are not genies….” One said with a sad and soft voice. “When we did our work, an evil sorceress sealed us away in this bottle.”

“How mean!” Mika joined Kitt. “What kind of work did you do?”

“We are Dream Fairies.” One replied. “Only one with a pure soul can release us.”

Mika turned to Kitt. “Let’s free them.” Mika said.

“I don’t know…” Kitt answered. “Something is feeling wrong.”

Mika looked if there was any security. “There is no security here, so no one will see us.” Mika tried. “We’ll leave the bottle here and free those sweet fairies.”

“I…” Kitt tried but Mika already took the bottle. Mika had been right, there was no security. It made Kitt feel suspicious. What if…?

“Please help us!” The two dream fairies pled and Kitt pushed her doubts aside. No Dream Fairy could be evil.

Mika pulled at the top of the bottle, but the small lit was stuck. Kitt took the biggest part of the bottle. “On three, okay?”

Mika nodded. "1, 2… 3!” And both pulled with all their strength.

“Have you ever made chicken soup before?” Zach asked while Derak filled a pan with water. “It shouldn’t be that hard.” Derak put it on the fire. “You just fry the chicken.”

The top shot of the bottle and both Kitt and Mika were swung away. Kitt crashed against a statue and Mika bashed against the wall. Kitt held the bottle and Mika held a small crystal lit. “Free at last!” They heard from the bottle and smoke got released.

Out of the smoke, 2 girls were formed. Both had a soft pink skin and light green hair. One was bigger than the other was. “You see little sister, I told you it would work!” They turned to Mika and Kitt.

“Oh thank you pure-souled one.” The smallest bowed. “It has been way too long in that stinky bottle.”

“Who are you?” Kitt asked.

The smallest stood next to her sister. “I’m Yuugao.” She smiled. “And this is my wonderful big sister Tsukiyo.”

“We thank you for our release.” Tsukiyo added. “Now, if you would excuse us… we have some dreams to devour.”

“Wait a minute!” Mika jumped up. “You said you were Dream Fairies!”

“But we are.” Tsukiyo lifted Mika magically. “We just never said we were good Dream Fairies.”

Kitt jumped at Tsukiyo, but Yuugao blasted her away. “Don’t mess with us kid.” She laughed. “We are way older than you are.”

“Let Mika go!” Kitt demanded.

Tsukiyo smiled and send Mika at Kitt. They blasted against each other. “Don’t tell me you didn’t mean it that way.” Tsukiyo made an innocent face. “Be glad we didn’t decide to take your dreams first. Consider it as a small thank you for our release.”

Both wanted to walk away. “Wait!” Mika yelled. “You can’t do this!”

“Sure we can!” Tsukiyo replied. “She locked us away after destroying some stupid monastery but we knew we would be free again one day. First we are going to take revenge, then we are going to have some fun.”

“Always work, work, work.” Yuugao turned around. “Let’s find that stupid Air Guardian and find out who she loves most. And then kill his dreams.”

“That’s your best idea ever Yuugao.” Tsukiyo said. “I’m proud at you.”

“My god…” Kitt softly said in horror. “What did we do…?”

She looked aside and saw Mika sitting, bathing in sweat. “Air Guardian… do you think she means…Moka?”

Mika jumped up, knowing her friend had the control over the air. She just had to be sure he was all right!

“Mika, wait!” Kitt ran after Mika. “She didn’t mean Moka!”

Mika stopped. “How can you be so sure?” She asked in terror. “Moka controls air!”

“But he isn’t a woman.” Kitt huffed while she finally reached Mika. “Yuugao said it was a she. And Moka isn’t an Air Guardian either.”

Mika was silent. “Lady Luna is.” She then said. “Do you think they are after Lady Luna?”

Kitt nodded. “We have to warn them. It was our fault, but maybe they can stop them.”

“I wonder who Lady Luna loves most….” Mika asked.

In the cottage, Lady Luna sat on Moka’s bed. “Here, my little moon.” She smiled and gave him some soup. Moka took it thankfully and drank it empty. He then lay back in his bed and closed his eyes. “Sleep tight, little star of mine.” She laid her hand on his head and stood up.

Softly she closed the door. In the hallway she saw Zach and Derak, covered in all kinds of food. “Next time….” She said, “Let Kitt or Mika do the cooking.”

Mika and Kitt stood in the bus, hoping that would take them quicker home then walking. “Come on…” Mika said hopping. “Go on!”

“Relax.” Kitt smiled. “Why are you so worried?”

“Because Moka means everything to me!” The confession was abrupt but directly from her heart. Kitt was a bit shocked; she didn’t expect this. Mika explained it. “I lost my parents.”

“I didn’t know that.” Kitt replied. “I’m so sorry.”

Mika smiled. “Don’t be, it wasn’t your fault. But Moka was there for me when I needed a friend.”

“How long do you know him?” Kitt asked.

“2 days before my parents died.” Mika replied. “He came to my class and I felt he was something hiding.” Mika thought back at that time. “After my parents… all I had were my 3 best friends and Moka… But he took them away.”

“Who?”

“I don’t know.” Small tears welled up in Mika’s eyes. “In 3 days I lost everything. My parents, my friends… all I have left is Moka.”

Kitt was silent. She thought she had problems, but at least she had a family.

“A while ago I had a dream.” Mika then said. “A dream I precious most. I had my own family. There was a mother, a father and lots of children.”

“Oh?” Kitt asked curious. “Is that your dream? To be in a family?”

Mika nodded. “In that dream… I was the mother. And the father… was Moka.”

The bus stopped and Mika stepped out. Kitt was so astounded that she almost forgot to step out too. “You mean… that… Moka…?”

Mika smiled. “It was only a dream…”

“Dreams can be more than you think.” Kitt replied.

Mika stayed silent. She had already said too much. ‘If you lost your family,’ she thought, ‘you would understand what it would be like, to wish for your own family. That’s all I want, to have a family.’

Moka softly snored in his room. His fever had lowered a bit, but he still was very sick. Rest was all he needed and because he was sleeping, he didn’t see 2 pairs of blue eyes in his room…

The end.
