Special X: Memories of an idiot

I had many memories in my head that I wish I could forget, but I couldn’t. It was hard to forget them, but the memories come back into my head. I do remember one memory that I always hated.

I guess it started a while, when I was little. My mom and dad were happy to have me.

They told me I smiled a lot and I talked a lot to them in baby language. I was always happy to see my aunt, uncles, and cousins. They all adored me well except for my other cousin who was my rival, but anyway.

My aunt had a lot of books and read them to me, telling stories about fairies, dragons, witches, and other fantasy characters. One character I liked from the stories was this guy name Aruka. Aruka was a hero with armour and a red bandanna on his head. He helped to save people from evil bad guys with powers from the stars and even was able to defeat enemies with his powerful Starball attack. In order to use it, he yelled, “Starko Y Blast!” and a star bursting fire shot out of his hand. After the story, I tried the attack myself yelling, “Starko Y Blast!”, but nothing came out of my hand. All that time, I tried that same attack yelling it and doing the stance that Aruka did. My cousin laughed at me saying I was an idot doing those stances. I growled at him, but kept trying.

Then one day at school in science class, we were learning how to mix chemicals to make crystals. I sat next to a girl named Kimi. She was the prettiest girl that I ever met and she always talked to me in class when working. She smiled and always hugged me every time I became partners with her.

But back to the chemicals, I was telling Kimi about Aruka, the greatest hero, who saved people by using his Starball attack and she nodded as she listened to me.

Kimi smiled and said that it would be cool if I saved her from dragons and knights and if I had that power.

I blushed and tried to act like Aruka. I said ‘Don’t worry Kimi, Zach is here to save the day!’ I then brought my hands back and as if the words magically appeared in my mouth I screamed, ‘Zako Y chosen!’ Within minutes a flash of bright light appeared and I closed my eyes as the light got brighter and then the whole room went black.

I woke up and found myself in the hospital and my parents sitting next to me. I looked at them wondering what they were doing here. They finally noticed me and hugged me tightly. I asked what happened and it turned out that the school building had got caught on fire because the chemicals exploded for some strange reason.

I was shocked, a chemical exploded?

I looked at my hands and they had brown marks on them. Did I do it? Was this a dream? The doctor later came in telling me that I was going to be okay. I asked if all the kids were okay and if they made it safely out of the school.

The doctor nodded his head, but then looked down. He told me a girl rushed in to get me because I had collapsed on the floor. A few minutes later, she didn’t come out and the firemen had to come in to find her. They found her with a desk on her back and that she couldn’t get up. The firemen had to rescue us, but suddenly a wood burning with fire hit Kimi and she got a scar on her beautiful face and half her neck. She had to get to a doctor really quick.

I gasped and asked the doctor which room she was in.

After finding the room, I knocked on the door. ‘Come in!’ I heard a scratchy voice say. I opened the door and I found Kimi with a bandage on half of her face. Kimi hugged me and I sat down. We sat there and didn’t know what to say. I then asked her if she was okay.

She said she was doing fine and that she would be out of the hospital in a few days. We sat there more until finally I asked her the question that I thought would never come: ‘So I guess you know how the school got burned down huh?’

Kimi looked at me and then started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that what the doctor said was wrong. There weren’t any chemicals that caused the school to be on fire, it was I.

Kimi told me that when I screamed ‘Zako Y chosen!’ that a big flash appeared. While everyone was blinded by it, Kimi managed to open her eye a bit and saw a large fireball growing larger from my hands. Then it flew off and hit one of the plants that caused the fire to spread. With that the fire spread faster that it took more firemen to put it out.

After Kimi told me that, she cried again. She said that when I cause that fire, I had almost killed the students and teachers there. Mostly half of the student and teachers had to see a doctor and had burns on their face or bodies. People didn’t know it was me, they all thought it was a chemical problem in the lab, but only she knows.

She took the bandages off and I saw that her beautiful face was all burned brown and her eye was burned too. She cried and hugged me.

The day I got out of the hospital, I told my parents about my powers. They were very shocked as I showed them outside. My dad smiled and said that maybe it was a power given to me by the gods. I laughed a bit, but I wonder if he was right. I kept practising that attack to help me learn to control it. My dad even gave me a pair of gloves so I can’t burn my hands when I use them. Within a few days, I finally learned to control it.

As I use this power, I use it to do what Aruka did, but I thought about Kimi. She saved me instead of me saving her. How weird that was. Whenever I use this attack, I will always remember the time when Kimi saved me with her beautiful face.

The end.
