Part 47: Sorrow

Outside the castle, there was a garden filled with black roses in many rows. Princess Vena was lying on the grass, picking each petal off the rose and letting it drop to the ground in a big heart. Unexpectedly, the gate opened and the general with three soldiers walked in. “Miss Vena, your queen requested for me to protect you and….” The general started, but Princess Vena wasn’t listening except daydreaming about Derak.
She sighed, when she saw the general and giggled. “General…” She said as she picked a petal off the rose.
“Miss?” The general replied puzzle at what Vena was going to say.
“Have you ever thought about love before this whole war started?” she sighed letting the petal fall.
“Well it has been a while since every lover was killed, but I still believe in love even after my wife was….” The general said, but then shook his head, “Miss Vena, you know how forbidding it is to talk about that word. If your mother found out, we could be in trouble and who knows what might happen to us.”
One soldier started looking worried, “We could get our heads cut off…”
“Or maybe she’ll feed us to the wolves…” Other one cried.
“Or maybe she’ll have us be her models when she trying one of those tight dresses!” The soldiers were crying tears as the general tried to calm them down. Finally the general told Princess Vena how he was supposed to protect her from an army of evil people that is trying to destroy the planet.
“That is why I’m here. Now come on! I’ll escort you to safety.”
Princess Vena gasped when she thought of Derak being alone outside while the army could kill him. “Wait! General!” The general stopped and watched as Princess Vena got up looking worried. "My…friend is out there…I’m worried that he might get killed out there. So if you ever see a green haired boy, will you bring him back here to safety?” The general smiled and nodded,
“I’ll make sure he’s safe. Now come on!” The soldiers with the general’s help they lead Princess Vena into the castle.
‘Derak, please be safe!’ she sighed looking into the sky.
After dodging the rest of the soldiers, the group continued their way to NightWing’s castle. The group now focused on each other in case Queen Blackheart started to attack them again. “I’m scare! I don’t want to die” Mika cried and hugged Zach as they went up the mountain leading to the castle. “For god sakes Mika, if you don’t shut up, we will die.” Kitt said trying to pray off Mika’s arms. “Hey don’t be so mean to her.” Zach said to Kitt, “She’s just worried.”
“You Baka!” Kitt pound Zach’s head, “Don’t all be polite to her. She needs to learn to take care of herself.” Mika sulked as Kitt and Zach walk off leaving her behind.
She suddenly saw Moka coming up the mountain and called to him. “Moka, my feet hurt, can you carry me?” she said.
Moka didn’t answer her because he was out of a breath. “How long is it to get to the castle?” he panted as he caught up with the group. “Moka! I’m dying up here!” Mika cried impatiently as Moka came up to her.
“Mika, I don’t think I have enough strength to lift you.” Moka panted, “You’ll have to lean on me for a while and…”
“BUT I’m tired!” Mika cried so hard that Kitt wished she could sock her in the jaw.
“Mika,” Moka said, “I’m sorry, but walking up these mountains is making me…”
Mika pouted like a little girl, “You’re so mean!”
“I’m not mean, Mika, but…”
“You are too!”
“Are NOT!”
“Are TOO!”
Finally Moka couldn’t take it. “WHY CAN’T YOU JUST SHUT UP?” Moka yelled at Mika’s face.
Everything was so silent that only a bird flew by was heard. Mika look at Moka’s angry face, which calmed down and then ran off after Zach and Kitt. Kitt shook her head, “Oh god, not again.” she said knowing what was going to happen.
“Mika…” Moka said, “I..I..” Without one word, Mika grabbed Kitt and Zach by the arms and they went up to the mountain leaving him behind.
At that moment, Derak came up the mountain singing a happy tune. “Vena! Vena…, a pretty name that sounds like love. I have gone crazy over the…” He stopped singing when he saw Moka standing still. “Hey Moka, you okay? You aren’t hurt are you?” All of a sudden, Moka grabbed Derak and cried on his shoulder while Derak was trying to figure out what was going on.
It was night-time, when the group reached the top of the mountain. “Let’s rest for a while.” Kitt sighed.
“Aren’t you worried that the soldiers might find us and then kill us?” Zach said.
“Don’t worry,” Kitt sigh as she drank from the water bottle, “With that new power you have, we’ll defeat them all.”
“But I almost killed you all with it.” Zach looked worried.
“We’ll be fine,” Mika said eating some pink fruits, “As long as I have my Cosmic Shield we’ll be fine.” A few minutes later, footsteps and crying was heard.
Derak appeared with Moka still crying on his shoulder. “Uh…can anyone...?”
A big yawn was interrupted from Mika as she got her sleeping bag out. “Well good night everyone!” she said and went into a cave that she found.
“Baka!” Kitt said and suddenly yawned, “Well I’m going to sleep too! Good night!” She walked into the same cave with her sleeping bag after Mika.
The three boys sat around the fire. Zach was so tired from climbing that he sat sleeping on the ground. Derak sat on a rock watching Moka crying his tears. Finally he wiped the tears away and sighed, “That was so stupid of me to say that. Now she won’t ever forgive me.”
“What happened?” Derak said while Moka had almost forgotten he was there.
“Well I just got into a fight with Mika again, just because she didn’t get her way.” Moka said. Derak snickered a bit, but he saw Moka wasn’t laughing. “I guess at that moment, I was tired of hearing her orders and for once I wish she didn’t have to order us around, but let us do something on our own. Now she hates me and won’t speak to me again.” Moka started to cry out tears again.
In the castle, Queen Blackheart watched in a crystal ball at the two boys talking to each other. “Aww the soldier of Air is crying his tears out. So much sorrow! Too bad for him.” Queen Blackheart laughed that it echoed in the whole room. “Now’s my chance to take those soldiers and destroy them. But first…” She grinned as she looked at the crystal ball, “Let me take care of cry-baby.” Queen Blackheart gathered her powers and aimed her hands at the crystal ball. “Black Poison Heart!” She cried as a black beam hit the crystal ball.
“...And then she told me to get that thousand dollar pink bear, but I didn’t have enough, so…” Moka continued on about Mika’s orders and Derak was starting to get tired.
“Moka,” Derak said, “You’re not the only one having this problem.”
“Are you kidding, no one in the world is stupid to say what I had to say and…” Moka started to say, but Derak just continued with what he is saying.
“I had the same problem too.”
“What?” Moka said puzzled, “No way, I mean you look like a guy who would always have a girlfriend.”
Derak pushed his sunglasses up and sighed, “Well, I never told anyone this, but Kitt was my girlfriend. She was the only girl I cared about. We would have fun driving around town and make fun at police. Until that day, when she turn against me for acting so mean to people. I got into jail and vow to find Kitt back until she was with Zach. I got jealous and tried to get her back, but I couldn’t. After losing in the Moon Tournament, I tried to find some girls to cheer me up, but after the incident with Kitt, girls avoid my gang and me.” Derak looked at Moka who was gazing with big eyes. “So you see, I think Mika would forgive you for not carrying her. I think all she need was a rest.”
“You're sure?”
“I’m sure.” Moka felt happy and hugged Derak. “Uh…Okay you can stop doing that.” Derak said.
Suddenly a black beam hit both boys’ in the body. “What the heck?” Derak cried as he grabbed his body.
“My heart is hurting.” Moka said grasping his body.
“Call that heartache huh?” a voice called from above. The boys looked up to see Queen Blackheart with some soldiers behind her.
“Queen Blackheart!” Derak and Moka said.
“That’s my name, don’t wear it out!” Queen Blackheart smiled evilly.
“You’ll never defeat us.” Derak and Moka cried getting ready to attack.
“Yes, I can never defeat you after you hurt your family and friends.”
“What?” the boys were puzzled.
“Ah yes, the soldier of Air couldn’t save his friends from being lead to doom but saved his girlfriend instead. So much stupidity.” Moka felt the pain in his heart was hurting him more. “Oh yes,” Queen Blackheart continued, “Soldier of Earth couldn’t save his mother from being crushed to death.”
Derak grasped his chest in pain. “Must...Fight…Back…” Derak struggled.
The Queen laughed, “Fight all you want, but all those sadness will bring you more pain.” The two boys tried to struggled, but they couldn’t fight their sad feelings. They felt their powers draining away.
“I’m sorry…Chibi Kim…” Derak said as he collapsed to the floor, “We failed you!”
Suddenly Courage appeared from high above. “Hey guys! Wass Up?” She said, “You like that joke, I remember watching it on a movie that…” But the two boys didn’t answer. “What’s wrong with you too? You look sad?”
“No I feel happy.” Moka said sarcastic grasping his chest, “Don’t bother me! I don’t want to be annoyed right now”
“But I got this funny thing. Look I can change my voice.” Courage held a balloon to her mouth and sucked in the helium. “Whoo!” She shrieks, “I’m so CRAZY!” Watching it made Moka laugh a bit. Queen Blackheart noticed Moka not feeling sad. “What is wrong with you?” she screamed, “Who are you talking to?”
“Hey Derak” Courage called out, “Check this out!” She grabs her eyes and mouth and made a funny face. “Cool! Huh!” Her finger started to slip though and she poked herself in her eye. “Ow!” She cried jumping around. Derak was crying yet laughing when he saw it that he forgot the pain inside him. “Now that’s much better!” Courage said. The two boys laughed as Courage did many funny things that the pain from their heart disappeared.
Queen Blackheart was getting furious. “That does it! Night Soldiers attack!”
A voice suddenly broke out, “Ultimate Zako Y Chosen!” A fireball smashed a couple of soldiers away. Queen Blackheart looked up to see Zach standing near the two laughing boys. “I won’t let you hurt my friends!”
The Queen laughed, “Such a courageous boy. But you're no match for me! Cave of Darkness!” The attack headed towards Zach as he tried to get away.
“Cosmic Shield!” Mika cried shielding Zach.
“Aqua Dragon Love!” Kitt cried sending her attack at Queen Blackheart. Queen Blackheart quickly dodged the attack and sends more soldiers at them.
“Kitt!” Zach cried grabbing her hand. “Steaming Shower!” They cried sending the attack at the soldiers.
“Black Kiss!” Queen Blackheart cried sending the attack through the combination attack.
“Oh No!” Zach cried, “It didn’t work!”
“No really!” Kitt said as the soldiers smashed them to the ground.
From away, Moka and Derak finally stopped laughing. “Wasn’t that fun?” Courage said happily.
“Yeah for once you helped us!” Moka sighed.
“HELP YOU? Again?” Courage gasped, “Grrrrrr! You’ll pay for that!” She disappeared leaving Derak and Moka laughing.
At that moment, Derak and Moka saw Mika, Zach, and Kitt being attacked by soldiers. “Oh no! They need our help!” Moka said and rushed towards the soldiers, “Bear Crunch!”
Derak follow with his attack, “Rumbling Voices!” The two attacks hit the soldiers, but more survived and charged at the two boys.
“What now?” Moka cried grabbing Derak to protect him.
As Moka grabbed Derak’s hand, it started to glow. “Don’t give up boys!” A voice called, “Open your heart and release that power to protect you. You will survive.”
The two boys felt their heart warm and look determined at the charging soldiers. “HEAVEN HURRICANE!” They both cried as a blast of wind and flowers smashed the soldiers to bits leaving their armours behind.
Queen Blackheart gasped surprised from above. “You may won this round, but you’ll never rescue Chibi Kim in time.” She disappeared as Moka and Derak collapsed to the floor.
Mika, Kitt, and Zach ran towards them. “Are you okay?” Kitt asked Derak.
Derak opened his eyes, “I’m fine!” Kitt sighed and hugged Derak,
“Oh, I thought you were gone forever.” Mika hugged Moka, “I’m sorry Moka for how I treated you.”
Moka smiled, “It’s okay Mika. I’m sorry I was angry at you. Can you forgive me?”
Mika smiled, “Sure, if you can carry me again.”
“What?” Moka cried.
Mika giggled, “Just kidding.” Zach, Kitt, and Derak laughed with her.
“Well let’s go then!” Zach said, “We’re almost to the castle.”
The group started to walk when Moka stopped. “Mika, aren’t you coming?”
Mika look at Moka with baby eyes. “I need a ride, my feet are tired.”
Moka sighed, “Okay!”
Zach, Kitt, and Derak watched them and sighed, “He’ll never learn!”
