Part 45: Back to the Tempus

One of the servants came to Queen Blackheart and bowed. “My Queen,” The servant said. “Your daughter has returned from her afternoon walk.” Queen Blackheart got up and came down the stairs as Princess Vena came into the room.
“Sorry, I was late, mom.” Princess Vena started, “I got lost in the forest and couldn’t find my way out till my servants found me.”
Queen Blackheart hugged Vena close to her, “I’m just glad that you are safe and sound. Now you better get cleaned up. I have an important thing to do.”
Queen Blackheart walked out of the room
as the servants took Vena to her room. “I need to be alone for a minute.” She
told her servants and she closed the door. She flopped onto her bed and sigh as
she remembered Derak’s smile. “I hope to see him again.” She sighs and hugged
the pillow on her bed.
By this time, Zach and his friends were
continuing their journey. Zach was carrying Kitt, Mika was putting on lipstick,
Moka was eating some berries he found, and Derak was daydreaming about Vena.
“Ahhhh Vena. I hope I’ll see her again” He sighed when he suddenly bumped into Moka.
“Hey watch it Derak!” Moka cried, “You almost made me spill my berries.”
“Gees! Sorry!” Derak grumbled, “But where did we stop for?”
“Zach says we are taking a rest now since his back is hurting.” Mika explain. The group watched as Kitt got off Zach’s back.
“Really Zach. I’m not that sick anymore and it’s not like I need to be carried.” Kitt said.
“After inhaling that powder from that flower, who knows what other diseases you might get.” Zach huffed and collapsed on a log.
The group sat around them and made a fire in the middle of the ground.
“I can’t wait till we get to NightWing.” Moka said, “I’m getting tired from all this travelling.”
“Yeah! All this travelling is making your feet sweaty and ache.” Mika agreed.
Derak didn’t say anything, but sighed deeply.
“What’s wrong with him?” Moka wondered, “He’s been acting that way since we left the mirror place.”
“You don’t think he also has inhaled the powder from the flower?” Mika gasped.
“I think he’s just fine.” Zach answered.
“Ahhh! Vena.” Derak sighed again and started giggling to himself.
The rest of the group stared at him puzzled.
“O-kay! Maybe he did.” Kitt said.
In Tempus’ room, Courage turned upside down and floated around Tempus.
“So one more try! I hope you don’t screw it up this time.” Courage giggled. Tempus sat on his throne and gripped the arms on it. “I can’t lose to them now. I can’t let my life fade away.”
Courage yawned as she floated on. “Nice speech, but how are you going to defeat them uncle? You tried capturing, trapping them, and use innocent people as bait to defeat them. Believe me, we four Ancient Warriors have tried these things over and over, but they aren’t working.” Courage sat on Tempus’s lap and pats him on the head. “So what’s grandfather clock going to do now?”
Tempus finally got up and walked towards the centre of the room. ”All right! No more fooling around! It’s time I showed them my true power! No mercy!” Tempus cried. Lighting crackled around Tempus and he disappeared.
“Hey wait for me!” Courage cried as she
floated into the air.
At this point, the group was eating
dinner that Kitt had made. “This is pretty good!” Moka exclaimed, “You’ve became
good at cooking since we fought Ryu a while back.”
“Thanks!” Kitt replied, “You know since we are on the subject of the Ancient Warriors, I noticed they have been using the same tricks and traps on us. It’s always trapping us in traps, using people as baits, and all that crap stuff, but I have never seen them try to fight us with their powers mostly.”
“Maybe that’s their tradition to do so.” Zach said between chomps of the food.
“You know I have to agree with Kitt.” Moka said, “I mean Tempus has been doing the same thing over and over again. He always sends an electric cage at us and that does no good. It’s like that is the only power he has. I think the Chibi’s were wrong about Tempus. He’s nothing, but old Father Time.”
Moka, Derak, and Mika laughed, but Kitt still wondered if this was true.
Suddenly a bolt of lighting rumbled in the sky. Zach got up and saw Tempus hovering above him. “Oh god! Not you again!” Zach cried.
“Hey look! Father Time woke up from the dead!” Moka cried and Mika and Derak were rolling laughing on the ground. Tempus glared at them, but still hovered in the air.
“What’s with him?” Mika said, “He’s not attacking. Is this another trick?”
“I’m not going to take any chances this time.” Zach charged up his arms forming a fireball. Tempus didn’t say anything, but took out an hourglass.
“What’s he doing?” Kitt said. The group watched as Tempus mumbled something and the hourglass started to glow. The hourglass started to rise in the air and then it exploded. The group covered their eyes until the glow wore off and then they all disappeared. Tempus looked at each of the 4 hourglasses that had appeared before him.
Courage yawned again, “Boring! Didn’t Ryu try this before?”
Tempus shook his head, “He only used
their dreams, this time it’s for real! And this clock is going to help me.”
Zach opened his eyes and looked around.
There was nothing, but sand around him. “Where am I?” Zach thought when he heard
Tempus laugh above him.
“Like the change of scenery?”
Zach growled, “Yeah right! Where are my friends?”
Tempus fold his arms, “Oh they're around, but for now I’ll get rid of you first!” Tempus held up the clock as the hands turned forward fast.
“What the..?” Zach thought, when suddenly he heard a bunch of cowboys running towards him. “This must be another one of your tricks!” Zach said, “I know these aren’t real!” The cowboys headed towards Zach and smashed him into the sand. “What?” Zach cried, “That felt real!”
Tempus laughed, “Ryu was a fool to defeat you with dreams. He should have defeated you with real things!”
The cowboys drew their guns and began shooting at Zach. Zach dodged them and then loaded his power for a fireball. “Zako Y Chosen!” He cried, but the fireball came out slowly.
Tempus snickered from above, “No matter what you do, I’m always controlling time. Now it’s time I check on your other friends.”
Tempus’s face disappeared and Zach watched as the cowboys surrounded him. “Damnit!” Zach glared, “I’m surrounded and even if I attack, the power would come out too slowly. What can I do?”
One cowboy got closer to Zach. “Alright boys, yuh’ all get ready to shoot this person. I’ll go tie him up so he won’t escape!” He cried.
Another one cried, “And we can get that reward the sheriff offered.”
As the cowboy got close to him with the
rope, Zach had the perfect idea. “I got it!” He quickly gathered his energy
again.
The cowboy got closer to him. “Zako Y Chosen!” Zach cried and shot the fireball
again.
The fireball came out slowly, but it hit the cowboy, as he had got closer.
“Why that son of a…” One cowboy said getting ready to attack Zach, but Zach shot another fireball at him.
“I may not shoot them from far away, but I can still hit them when they are close by.” Zach laughed as one after another the cowboys collapsed to the floor.
“Now to rescue my friends!” Zach said.
He saw something shiny on the ground. It was a watch that one of the cowboys was wearing. Zach pressed one button and was transported onto a pirate ship.
“Must be a transporter to each time.” Zach thought to himself.
Suddenly he heard someone scream.
Zach turned around and saw a pirate grabbing a hold of Kitt and pushing her towards the plank.
“So you won’t marry Captain Blue at all! Then it’s off to the sea below where the sharks will eat you, scurvy sea girl.” A person in blue coat and blue hat said to Kitt.
“I wouldn’t want to marry you anyway.” Kitt shouted back at Captain Blue.
Captain Blue snared at her, “Down you go!” He shouted and pushed Kitt into the water.
Kitt closed her eyes, but felt a tug on her clothes. She opened her eyes to see Zach pulling her up. “How did you…?” Kitt began.
“No time Kitt, let’s get out of here!” Zach cried as a bunch of pirates ran towards him. “Zako Y Chosen!” he cried as the pirates ran into the bursting fire and quickly transported them away.
Zach and Kitt found themselves in the forest. “Which time period is this?” Zach wondered, when the ground started to shake.
“EARTHQUAKE!” Kitt shouted.
The shaking started getting closer and it turned out to be a Dinosaur.
“Aaaa!” Zach screamed and hid behind Kitt,
“Chicken!” Kitt said to Zach and was about to throw a rock at the Dinosaur when a pink cloud went by.
The Dinosaur ate the cloud and started munching on it.
Mika and Moka popped from above the Dinosaur.
“Hi you guys!” Mika called from above, “You like my pet, Fluffy?”
Kitt looked fearless at the smiling Dinosaur rubbing Mika’s face. “Fluffy? Pet?” Kitt said to Moka who came down from the Dinosaur.
“Don’t ask!” Moka sighed, “Let’s just get out of here before its mommy comes.”
The group transported again to weird place that almost looked like their home.
“I believe this is the old future.” Zach concluded as robots and aliens went by.
“Looks different from our future.” Moka replied as a spaceship almost hit him.
Suddenly they heard Derak’s voice coming from down the street.
A bunch of robots were after him.
“Stop in the name of the law! Humans must be destroyed!” one of the robots replied. Derak all of a sudden spotted Zach and his friends.
“Am I glad to see you!” He cried as Zach fire another fireball at the incoming robots.
“Well looks like we got everyone.” Moka concluded.
Another laughter was heard, “So guys found each other and I thought it would be hard, but you’ll never defeat me!” Tempus held his clock again and a bunch of knights knocked Zach and his friends.
Zach tried to use his powers again, but this time Tempus didn’t allow it and send many things from different time periods at him.
“I can’t let him beat us!” Zach cried trying not to let go of Kitt’s hand, “I must defeat him!”
As Zach and Kitt’s hand touch, their hands started to glow. A voice cried out, “Come on Zach, release the power within!”
Zach held Kitt close to him and as if they learned the words, they both shouted, “Steaming Shower!”
A powerful cloud of smoke smashed the group of time period people.
Tempus watched as the hourglass started to get foggy.
“No!” He cried, “I’ll defeat these kids now if I…”
The 4 hourglasses exploded into Tempus’ face knocking him to the ground.
As Tempus got up, he saw Zach and his friends looking at him.
“No! I can’t lose!” Tempus cried and launch his clock at the group of kids, but Derak grabbed it.
“Time is up!” Kitt cried as all of them smashed the clock.
“Nooo!” Tempus cried as he started to disappear into the ground.
The group sighed happily.
“Finally we defeated Tempus!” Derak sighed and plop onto a log.
Zach and Kitt sighed too. “The nightmare is over.” Kitt replied, “I don’t ever want to think of history again!”
“Nice going kiddies!” A voice laughed.
Mika jumped onto Zach and Kitt. “Who said that?” Mika screamed.
From above a ghostly figure of Courage floated down to them.
“I think the nightmare just has started.” Moka growled as Courage laughed.
From the castle, Queen Blackheart glared at the beaten Tempus.
“M..My..Lady..please..one more chance! I’ll…”
Queen Blackheart took one of Tempus’ hourglasses and smashed it with her hand.
Tempus’ body started to fall apart and suddenly crumpled to dust leaving nothing but a cape.
Queen Blackheart stared outside, “Just you wait you Elemental Soldiers, no one will ever defeat the NightWing!”
