Episode 17: Sacrfacial

He ran through the rain and thoughts shot through his head. 'Must get help, need to find someone!' He felt her body was getting cold. 'Rain! Rain cools her down! Must get shelter!' Moka stopped for a second and looked around him. There, a house! And there was light!
"Don't worry Mika," He whispered. "Everything will be all right again."
Kitt squeezed her hair dry. "I'm glad we found shelter." She said to Zach, who tried to get his jacket dry.
"I thought you were the goddess of water!" Zach smiled. "I never thought you would hate water."
Kitt laughed back. "You fool. I'm not a goddess. And I like to decide when I get wet. I like rain more when I'm inside a house."
Lighting crashed through the air.
"Well, whatever." Zach sighed. "We shouldn't be in the forest with a storm anyway." He looked at the little candle and then at the house. It was an old house. Zach got an idea. Why not scare Kitt? Slowly he walked at her.
Kitt looked outside, when she suddenly felt a pair of hands on her shoulders and heard: "Boo!" As a reflex, she jammed her arm back and punched her fist into its face.
When she looked again, she saw it was Zach. "I'm sorry!" She exclaimed and waved some are at him. "It's your own stupid fault. You shouldn't scare me."
Zach crawled up. "It's okay. It's just the house." They looked around. "It's so old. And it's storming outside. For all we know, some monster could step through that door any minute!"
Kitt smacked Zach upside his head. "Idiot! You are letting your imagination...."
Suddenly, the door slammed open and the wind blew out the candle. Scared, Kitt hid behind Zach, but Zach was scared also! He saw an image, momentarily enlightened by the lightning.
The creature lay something down on the floor, carefully and Kitt suddenly saw who that monster was!
"Moka!" She yelled, and dropped Zach. She saw Mika, laying unconscious on the floor. "What happened?"
Moka forgot all his hate for Kitt and let her sit down next to Mika. "It's all my fault!" He cried. "We were walking through the forest, following you, when we suddenly got lost. It started to storm and we were looking for shelter. It was like Mika knew what was coming!"
"What was coming?" Zach asked.
Moka grabbed his head. "The lightning! She pushed me away, but now she's... she's...." Kitt and Zach looked at Mika. She wasn't looking to good and her body was feeling cold. "I must get to a MC!" Moka suddenly exclaimed.
Zach jumped up. "What?" He yelled. "You are an idiot! This storm will make her condition only worse, and there isn't a MC close!"
Kitt laid her sleeping-bag on Mika, and took her jacket back on. She walked at the door, when Zach suddenly stopped her. "Kitt, what do you think you are doing?" He hissed.
Kitt pulled herself loose. "Check your map." She said. "There is a MC close, only 5 kilometers away from here. You stay here, while I get help."
"Why didn't you told me that?" Zach asked annoyed.
Kitt grabbed him. "There wasn't any need for okay? Now you stay here and take care of Mika, you understand?" Zach nodded and Kitt ran back into the forest.
Zach turned around and looked at Moka. He walked back and sat down next to Mika.
"Why is she doing this?" Moka finally asked. "We are your enemies."
Zach smiled. "We are just stupid. But don't worry, Kitt will get help, she's fast enough." Zach looked around and saw an old fireplace. "Shall I make a fire?"
Moka nodded and Zach stood up. Zach wondered a short while if Moka would attack him; this was the perfect chance! But when he saw Moka stroking Mika gently , he knew Moka wouldn't do anything.
In the mean while, Kitt ran through the woods towards the nearest Medical Centre. She was getting cold because of the rain, but Kitt couldn't stop. She new Mika needed help, and needed it fast! She jumped over a hole... and slipped away....
Zach looked at his watch. Already an hour had passed since Kitt left. He knew that even if she was walking, it shouldn't take her more than one hour. Help should already have been here!
Mika was getting worse. Moka had fallen asleep next to her.
"Something must have happened." Zach whispered and took his jacket. He walked at the door.
Moka woke up. "Where are you going?" He asked.
"Something must have happened to Kitt." He answered. "I'm going out there to look for her."
Moka shot up. "You bastard! You are leaving Mika and me all alone!" He cursed. "I thought I could trust you, but you stabbed me in the back! If I hadn't listened to you, Mika would be already walking again."
"Look!" Zach shouted back. "If Kitt promises anything, she does that. Something must have happened, maybe Derak showed up. But trust me, Mika will get help. If there isn't help within the hour, you must go on your own. But I'm doing the best I can." He looked at Moka. Moka knew he had no choice than trusting his worst enemy. He nodded.
"One hour." Moka said.
"One hour." Zach repeated and ran into the forest again.
Zach ran and ran. He wondered what happened to Kitt. Maybe Derak showed up, but maybe she had an accident. He knew he didn't had time to look for her, Mika needed help first. If Zach wouldn't find Kitt quickly, he would straight go on to the MC.
Zach ran faster and faster. Suddenly, he stopped. Zach heard something. It sounded weird, like someone was singing. Who would be singing in the rain? Maybe it was someone who could help Mika! He walked closer and slowly could hear the words.
"... he's my sea, why can't he be here with me? 237! When I'm home, I need no toy. I just need my Zachy-boy. He's my sun, he's my sea. Why can't he be here with me? And now everybody! When I'm home, I need no toy. I just need my Zachy-boy. He's my sun, he's my sea. Why can't he be here with me?"
Zach looked down the pit and he saw Kitt, singing to nobody!
"When I'm home, I need no toy. I just need my Zachy-boy." Kitt continued.
"He's your sun, and the sea to you! And he has come to save you too!" Zach jumped down and stood proudly before the sitting Kitt. Kitt folded her arms.
"That was the worst song ever!" She growled.
Zach laughed. "Yeah, right. Like yours was so great." He expected Kitt to jump up and slap him, but she stayed down. "Anything wrong?"
Kitt pointed at her foot. It was stuck between some rocks and a dead tree. "You better go to the MC first, to help Mika. You now know where I am, I won't walk away."
Zach tried to lift some rocks, but most of them were too heavy. "I'm not leaving you here behind."
Zach took a branch and stuck it between the rocks. With all his force, he tried to get Kitt free. Finally, after 5 minutes, Kitt was free and out of the pit.
Kitt touched her sore ankle. "Get to the MC." She commanded. "I'll be fine. I can still walk."
Zach lifted Kitt and started running again. "I'm not leaving you behind!"
Kitt didn't knew what to say, for the first time in her life, she was speechless!
At the same time, Moka looked at his watch. Already 15 minutes had passes since Zach had left. "Hang on Mika, I know you can hear me." He touched her face. "When you are better again, I buy you a new pretty dress."
Meanwhile, Zach and Kitt reached a wild river. The bridge had broken. "What can we do?" Zach asked. "It's too wild for a swim."
"Put me down Zach." Kitt asked. Zach obeyed and put Kitt down. What could she possibly do? He said nothing, as he watched Kitt concentrating. Zach looked at the water and he saw it was changing. What was she doing? Doing a re-make of Moses?
However, Kitt didn't split the river into two, but she made a tunnel underneath it! Proudly, Kitt showed her latest work.
Zach lifted Kitt again, and carefully walked towards the path Kitt had created. It felt weird, walking underneath the river, while you could actually touch it! He saw a few fishes swimming over him.
Zach walked as fast as he could and when he had left the tunnel, Kitt turned the river to its old self by letting the tunnel collapse.
Zach looked at his watch. 30 minutes left. He started running again, there was no time to loose!
Zach saw that the ambulance with Mika drove into the emergency. He also saw Moka shooting by, and saw his thankful face for a second. Zach turned around, and a nurse walked at him.
"You can visit your friend now."
"Thank you miss." He answered and walked into the room. Kitt was already standing. "How are you?"
Kitt looked at her ankle. "The doctor said I'll have to ease down a bit, but I'll be fine." She looked at Zach. "Mika?"
"Here." Zach answered. "She'll be fine also, I'm positive."
Kitt sighed relieved. "Do you... do you think Moka and Mika...?"
Zach looked down. "My guess is that when Mika will be fine again, they will continue...." He saw Kitt looking disappointed. "It was just a short armistice, I think."
"Yeah, me too." Kitt took her bag. "It's time to leave. One more day."
Zach took his bag also. "Only one more day. And then they can't follow us any more... I hope."
"Yeah, me too."
